Wadi Rum, Jordan.
For non-muslims traveling through the Middle East, the call to prayer can evoke numerous reactions: fascination at the concept, awe at the lyrical beauty, and quite often frustration (I’m talking about you, early morning call to prayer).
After a while traveling through the region however, you begin getting used to hearing the five-time-a-day call and it becomes simply another component of the daily routine… that is, until you hear a call to prayer so magical it transports you to another time and place.
If you want to know what I’m talking about, click below to watch video of a mystical call to prayer that I recorded as it echoed across rock formations in the Wadi Rum desert region of Jordan.
