People 7, in Shanghai's French Concession district, will leave you puzzling over how to get in.

Think you’re smart? You’ll need to be if you want to even get into People 7, a bar in the Chinese city of Shanghai where the bouncer is, well, your own intelligence.

The first thing you see when you reach the bar’s entrance is a curious set of circular lights indented in a bare, concrete wall. Two steel doors flank either side of the puzzling wall of lights – one of them a way in, the other, a trick door. I don’t want to take away all the fun, so I’m not going to tell you how to get inside – but believe me, the puzzle fun doesn’t end there. Let’s just say if you plan on using the restroom, go well before the real need arises. It might take you a while to figure out which of the many unmarked doors in the bar are bathroom stalls – as well as exactly how to enter the seemingly locked rooms with their unyielding steel doors. It’s definitely something you want to figure out before you’ve downed a few of their intellect-impairing cocktails!

People 7 is located in the French Concession at 805 Julu Lu, near Fumin Lu.
