If there’s one thing you’re going to pack on every single trip you take – no matter where you go or how long you’re away – it’s your toothbrush. But have you spent any time thinking about how you pack it?
If you’re like most people, you probably just toss it in a toiletry bag with all your other bathroom essentials, which when you think about it, is kind of gross. That brush that you put in your mouth twice a day is jostling up against all sorts of containers and products that probably haven’t been cleaned in a while. For that matter, when was the last time you scrubbed down your toiletry bag?
One solution is a toothbrush that comes with a little cap that you can place over the bristles. This is a great way of stopping the brush from coming into contact with anything that might be unhygienic, but the downside is that it’s easy to misplace the cap during frequent travels.
I think a great solution is this folding toothbrush. The handle of the brush is hollow and opens up so you can fold the entire top half of the toothbrush over and clip it shut. The nice thing is that the brush takes up less space in your luggage, and of course, you never have to worry about losing the cap. I recommend letting the brush dry out before you snap it shut since moist environments breed bacteria (this one does have little air holes for ventilation, but it doesn’t hurt to be safe). However once that’s done, you can brush your teeth knowing the only thing going into your mouth is toothpaste.
